Member of Parliament for Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has secured 100 international scholarships for students in his constituency.
The scholarships, obtained through a partnership with Russian institutions are focused on science and technology programs at various academic levels, including undergraduate, master’s and PhD.
Bedzrah made the announcement during the 10th edition of the Ho West Basic Schools Annual Quiz Competition (BaSAQ-C).
An initiative he launched nearly a decade ago to promote academic excellence at the basic school level.
“I travelled to Russia about a month ago and have been able to secure about a hundred scholarships for the Ho West District,” he told the media.
“Those who want to do a PhD, those who want to do a Master’s, those who even want to do a first degree.”
He explained that the scholarships are part of a broader plan to invest in human capital.
Supporting the long-term development of Ho West through education in science, technology and engineering fields.
To manage the scholarship process, a special desk will be set up at the Ho West District Assembly.
The office will verify applicants to ensure the scholarships benefit only genuine indigenes of the district.
“This is limited to only Ho West,”
“We are targeting students interested in sciences and technology who are ready to come back and contribute to the district.”Bedzrah emphasised.
According to him, many former BaSAQ-C participants have already advanced into tertiary institutions studying science-related courses.
This new initiative aims to offer even more opportunities for talented youth in the district.
