Vice-President commends caregivers of children with autism


Vice-President, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has praised mothers of special needs children, acknowledging their strength and sacrifices.

‎She reaffirmed her lifelong advocacy for children with neurodevelopmental conditions like autism and pledged continued support.

‎Speaking at GTBank Ghana’s Annual Autism Workshop, she applauded parents for managing challenges with determination and love.

The event took place at UPSA, where the Vice-President toured awareness clinics and met with doctors and specialists.

‎She interacted with children and caregivers, offering words of encouragement and urging them to remain hopeful and positive.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang recalled her time as Education Minister, noting policies introduced for children with learning difficulties and speech issues.

‎She expressed hope that the special education frameworks were being implemented effectively across the country.

She commended GTBank Ghana for leading autism advocacy through workshops, consultations and therapeutic support services.

‎The Vice-President said the bank’s consistent commitment to inclusion reflects true corporate social responsibility.

She stressed the importance of building a society that embraces all children, regardless of developmental differences.
