Bawku SHS closed after student shot dead on campus

Bawku Senior High School has been closed after the fatal shooting of a third-year student, Hakim Kundima on campus Saturday night.

‎The attack happened around 8:30 p.m. when unknown gunmen scaled the school wall, dragged the student out of the dormitory and shot him.

The assailants fled immediately after the shooting and no arrests have been made so far according to Citi news sources.

‎The victim’s elder brother, Tahiru Kundima confirmed the incident, adding that police delivered the body to the family.

‎He alleged the killing might be linked to the long-standing Bawku conflict, which has caused recurring violence in the area.

‎On Sunday, Municipal Education Director Isaac Agbeko Azasoo announced the school’s temporary closure over safety concerns for students and staff.

‎This tragedy follows another attack at Nalerigu SHS the same night, where two students were shot dead by unidentified assailants.

The incidents have heightened concerns over school security in the region amid the ongoing conflict in northern Ghana.

Police investigations are ongoing but officials have yet to confirm the motive or identify any suspects in both shootings.
