‎Kwabena Agyepong predicts tough NPP presidential race

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has described the upcoming flagbearer race as a tough battle.

‎He made the comment on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after the party officially opened nominations for the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

‎Agyepong said he remains confident about his chances, citing strong grassroots support within the party.

‎“It’s going to be tough, I’m not making any bones about it,” he admitted.

‎“One of my competitors has been vice president for years and enjoys national visibility…

I’ve been off the scene for a decade, but the support I’m receiving from the base is encouraging,” he explained.

‎He added that party members still remember his role in building the NPP, stressing, “I’m the only aspirant who has ever been elected as General Secretary.”

Agyepong is expected to pick up his nomination forms later this week.

‎He emphasised that his goal is to win and help the NPP reconnect with Ghanaians.

‎“With me, the NPP has a clear path to unity and victory. I am the surest bet to regain trust and reclaim power,” he said.

The NPP is preparing to choose its next presidential candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
