JoyNews reporter, Carlos Calony says he was attacked by soldiers at a McDan Group demolition site on July 29.
He told Eyewitness News the assault began after a soldier accused him of filming McDan officials kneeling during tensions.
Carlos Calony said five or six soldiers rushed at him, trying to seize his phone before one punched him.
“One threatened to slap me. Before I reacted, he had already hit my neck twice,” the reporter said.
He is receiving medical treatment and says he feels traumatised and psychologically unwell after the brutal experience.
“A doctor is attending to me now. I’m in pain. My neck hurts and I’m mentally shaken,” he added.
Carlos Calony said a national security officer stepped in and stopped further assault from the other military officers.
However, the soldiers forced him to unlock his phone and also accessed Joy FM’s driver’s phone he was holding.
He said he, the McDan officials and an eyewitness were later taken to the National Security Office in siren-blaring cars.
There has been no public comment yet from the military or national security on the incident.
