The Ministry of Health has announced the release of GHS 462 million to support the payment of training allowances for 120,000 nursing students across Ghana.
The amount covers a six-month period and is part of the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on nursing trainees.
According to a statement released on Thursday, July 17, this move fulfills a key campaign promise made by President John Dramani Mahama.
“The Ministry sees this as a major step toward improving the welfare of nursing trainees and motivating future health professionals,” the statement read.
“It also supports the broader effort to strengthen Ghana’s health sector by providing essential resources to students throughout their training.”
The Ministry expressed gratitude to President Mahama for fulfilling his pledge.
Also, acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders who helped ensure the timely release and distribution of the funds.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with nursing institutions to promote quality healthcare education nationwide.
