Gov’t releases first-quarter allowances for traditional leaders ‎


‎The Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has confirmed that the government has released first-quarter allowances to traditional leaders across the country.

‎She made the announcement during the launch of the 2025 Ghana Chieftaincy Awards in Accra on Thursday, July 17.

According to her, payments for the second quarter are expected to be disbursed soon.

The Deputy Minister said the move reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the role of traditional leaders not just as ceremonial figures but as key agents of development within their communities.

‎“These awards must ignite a deeper national conversation,” she stated.

“How do we harness the moral authority, cultural wisdom, and strategic position of our traditional leaders to shape a better Ghana?”

She also commended the organisers of the awards for highlighting the role of traditional authority in national development.

She urged Ghanaians to continue upholding and respecting their cultural heritage.
