Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has dismissed a viral video suggesting that former President John Agyekum Kufuor has been sidelined by the party.
Oppong Nkrumah said the footage was manipulated to push a false narrative, describing it as misleading and selectively edited.
“That video is a controversial one. You’re someone skilled in this field. Go and watch the video and observe how it has been edited,” he said.
“I won’t make further comments just watch and judge for yourself whether it reflects his full remarks or whether it was cut to serve a purpose. We are in a season of political competition.”
He cautioned that using such tactics to create internal divisions within the NPP was both “dangerous and counterproductive.”
“There’s a growing attempt by some individuals to use edited videos to sow discord,” he said.
“I challenge anyone to watch the version where red lines cut through parts of his speech to distort the full context.”
Oppong Nkrumah urged party members to stop using former leaders to stir tension between past and present leadership.
“This attempt to pit former leaders against the current leadership must stop. There has never been a council meeting where former President Kufuor was not invited,” he stated.
His comments come amid growing concerns over unity in the NPP.
Following the absence of both former Presidents Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the party’s National Delegates Conference held on July 19.
