COCOBOD educate farmers on new cocoa price and registration


The Cocoa Health and Extension Division of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has engaged cocoa farmers in the Bodi District of the Western North Region to educate them on the producer price for the 2025/2026 cocoa season.

‎An Officer at the Public Affairs Department of the division, Kennedy Osei Ampofo has acknowledged the hard work of the farmers and assured them of COCOBOD’s continued support.

‎“We appreciate your efforts and hard work for the country because cocoa is the backbone of Ghana’s economy…

‎That is why, even with the appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar, we continue to buy a bag of cocoa at GHC3,100.00 from last season till now,” he said.

‎Ampofo urged the farmers to avoid using unapproved chemicals on their farms to ensure good yields.

‎Deputy Western North Regional Manager for Cocoa Health and Extension Division, Charles Kabotei Ocancy has encouraged unregistered farmers to sign up for the Cocoa Card.

Warning that no cocoa buying company would purchase cocoa from unregistered farmers in the next season. He also clarified that updating personal details is free and can be done at the district office.

Bodi District Chief Executive, Stephen Baidoo announced plans to increase the distribution of chemicals for spraying cocoa black pod disease in the area.

‎Meanwhile, Nana Kwasi Ofori Ababio, Chief of Sefwi Bodi called on the government to reduce the cost of cocoa inputs and ensure their availability to ease financial pressure on farmers.
